For government and civil sectors

Training current divingSafe and measurable

Current is part of operational diving work, but it is difficult to practise without risk. At BC-opleidingen the current itself is generated in the open water in Enkhuizen — adjustable, measurable in m/s and able to be switched off instantly at any moment. This lets a team train realistically in an environment that is fully under control. Safety always comes before speed.

Who it is for

For diving teams in government and in the civil sector — from fire and police services to civil professional divers — who want to maintain or expand their proficiency in current diving, rescue and recovery operations and search actions.

Also suitable for testing underwater drones (ROV): do you want to know whether your ROV can carry out a task at a given current speed? Test it here, under adjustable and measurable conditions.

What you can train

The training programme is tailored to the level and learning objectives of the team. The components below are available.

Current diving

Descending, positioning, holding the line and searching with the current, including the quarter-circle method.

DIN procedures

Deployment as a standby diver and receiving, positioning and bringing a diver in distress to shore under current.

Victim recovery from a vehicle

Reconnoitring and searching a vehicle that has entered the water, including working in the eddy behind the car.

Search methods in current

Direct, half-circle and zigzag search methods, with the correct choice of position on the shore.

Diver and drone

Reconnoitring and capturing imagery with a diver, an underwater drone (ROV) or a combination of the two.

Benefits

Safety before speed

The generated current is controlled from the shore; no surprises, and in case of doubt the current comes to a standstill within seconds.

Adjustable and measurable

The current speed is precisely adjustable and measurable in m/s, allowing objective evaluation and step-by-step progression.

Fully controlled

A realistic but fully controlled environment in the open water in Enkhuizen.

Tailor-made

The programme is tailored to the level and learning objectives of the team.
