Duikmedisch Begeleider B1 Brandweer (Dive Medical Attendant, DMB-B1)
Medical support for the fire-brigade dive team during no-decompression diving — scopes A9, A15 and A15 OLV
Description
The duikmedisch begeleider (dive medical attendant, DMB) is part of the fire-brigade dive team to recognise a diving accident in an emergency and provide first aid. The DMB-B1 supports the dive team during diving work in the scopes A9, A15 and A15 OLV — no-decompression diving. This fire-brigade variant is intended for all safety regions and aligns with the operation of the fire-brigade dive team during water-related incidents.
After the DMB-B1 Brandweer training:
• You apply first aid procedures and resuscitation
• You have knowledge of the medical risks of diving and can take preventive measures
• You have knowledge of physics and extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology
• You recognise the symptoms of diving diseases
• You apply the first aid treatment of dive medical conditions
Structure and costs
• DMB-B1 Brandweer: approx. 40 hours of online self-study + 1 practical day + 1 exam day
Costs on request / in consultation with the safety region. Amounts are exclusive of exam fees.
Registration
The exam is administered by an independent examination institution. After successfully passing the exam, you are registered via the Registration Institute (RI) RI-NIPV in the Register duikarbeid brandweer en politie (RDB, the register for fire-brigade and police diving work); the exam fees are determined by the RI-NIPV and charged separately.
Entry requirements
Suitable for the (aspiring) firefighter diver / member of the fire-brigade dive team within the safety region.
Certification
The exam is administered by an independent examination institution. After the exam you are registered via the Registration Institute (RI) RI-NIPV in the Register duikarbeid brandweer en politie (RDB) (DMB-B1).
