Underwater Welding

Driven by a shared ambition to breathe new life into the training pathway for underwater welders, BC-opleidingen and the Lasinstituut introduced the Hyperbaric Welding Center. Combining the expertise of both organisations, we have set up a thorough and streamlined programme and are closing a gap in the current Dutch (and European) range of training courses. The training With the Hyperbaric Welding Center, we focus mainly on: • Training underwater welders from various starting points and at different levels • Organising welding-technical certifications (welder qualifications) under both European and American standards • Organising renewal days to maintain the validity of welder qualifications Facilities The majority of the training takes place at the BCO training centre in Enkhuizen, located directly on the Markermeer, with both indoor and outdoor dive locations. The development of underwater welders starts in the indoor basin (3 m); from there, progression to the outdoor basin is possible. On the outdoor grounds, BC-opleidingen has a dive pit 21 metres deep with a movable floor, so that any desired depth is possible. DNV certification (ISO/IEC 17024) Under the DNV banner, the Lasinstituut is authorised to act independently as assessor and examiner and helps organisations obtain and renew certificates at both company and personal level (LK & LMK), under both European and American standards.
