Brandweerduiker A15OLV (Firefighter Diver)

Specialised Brandweerduiker (firefighter diver) training programme for all safety regions

Description

BC-opleidingen delivers the specialised Brandweerduiker (firefighter diver) training programme for all safety regions. As a firefighter diver you are deployed as a rescue diver or safety diver (standby diver). Within the dive team you are responsible for operational support during water-related incidents, and you work according to fixed procedures together with the crew of the fire engine. Theory You learn to act competently and to collaborate safely within the dive team. You follow the theory in the national ELO (online learning environment) of the RI-NIPV. In addition, you practise via the question bank in our MemoTrainer app, which ensures that you retain the theory longer and better — even up to a year after the training. Practice You learn the practical side at our training centre on the Markermeer, with a dive tower and dive pit, or on request on location in the region. You learn to act safely and responsibly during both emergency and non-emergency situations. In the 'open water' phase you practise scenarios involving time pressure, stress and unexpected complications. You also learn to dive with the Oppervlakte Lucht Voorziening (OLV) (surface air supply) dive system. Portfolio Throughout the training you are observed and you receive feedback on your attitude and conduct, based on the competencies from the Brandweerduiker qualification dossier of the RI-NIPV. Structure • Online self-study: approx. 40 hours • Practical training: 4 weeks and 2 days • Examinations: 1 dive tower exam (inland water), 1 simulation of action during water-related incidents (open water) and 2 theory exams (RI-NIPV & SWOD) The programme can be followed both full-time and part-time. Registration The theory exam and the proof of competence are administered by an independent examination institution. After successfully passing the examination, you are registered via the Registration Institute (RI) RI-NIPV in the Register duikarbeid brandweer en politie (RDB, the register for fire-brigade and police diving work); the exam fees are determined by the RI-NIPV and charged separately.
