Medical examination
Start your training with a diving medical clearance
To take part in a professional diving course safely and responsibly, you must be medically cleared for diving. Below you can read which examination you need and where to have it carried out.
What do you need?
To take part in the course you must be medically approved for professional diving to a depth of 50 metres. This examination is carried out by a certified diving physician B. Make sure you have a valid clearance before the course starts.
Diving physician A and B
For the diving medical, the distinction between a diving physician A and a diving physician B is important:
Diving physician A
Authorised to renew (re-examine) an existing clearance.
Diving physician B
Authorised for both the initial examination and the renewal (re-examination).
Where do I find a diving physician?
You can find an up-to-date list of certified diving physicians at Stichting Werken onder Overdruk (SWOD).
