About the training

Safe and controlled diving in current. The current is generated artificially and controlled from the shore; the flow velocity is adjustable, measurable in m/s and can be switched off immediately at any time. The training consists of five modules, so every team can tailor the programme to its own service area.

Duration
1 practice day (guideline: 2 half-day sessions). The modules can be chosen and combined freely; the final programme follows from the work plan and the dive planning.
Target group
Registered fire brigade divers and dive team leaders who need to keep this exercise up to standard within their two-year registration period. Suitable for SCUBA and OLV configurations; regions that dive with OLV as standard mainly practise with OLV.
Required per 2 years
fire brigade diver 2, dive team leader 2
Location
Markermeer open water — BC-opleidingen, Enkhuizen — artificially generated, adjustable current

What does the law require?

Fire brigade divers and dive team leaders have been registered with the NIPV since 1 October 2024. To keep your registration, you show every two years, with your logbook, that you have practised enough. The industry guideline on ongoing professional competence (2026) determines which exercises these are. At BC-opleidingen every course follows that guideline, and you receive the right code for your logbook.
