- Name measures to prevent diving illnesses
- Carry out the initial treatment of diving illnesses
- Use the oxygen kit correctly and safely

- Work with the treatment checklist
- Carry out an intake for a diving accident
- Practise the handover to the ambulance service and consultation with the diving medical centre (DMC)
About the training
In this session, fire brigade divers refresh their knowledge of diving illnesses: recognising, preventing and treating them, including practical use of the oxygen kit. The session combines theory with a short practical exercise with the oxygen kit.
- Duration
- 1 half-day session (approx. 4 hours), including evaluation and logbook registration.
- Target group
- Registered fire brigade divers. For the dive team leader, the requirements of DMB-B1 apply; this session is not mandatory for the dive team leader.
- Required per 2 years
- fire brigade diver 2, dive team leader — ¹¹ Dive team leader: diving-medical proficiency in accordance with DMB-B1 (Stcrt. 2024-39685).

What does the law require?
Fire brigade divers and dive team leaders have been registered with the NIPV since 1 October 2024. To keep your registration, you show every two years, with your logbook, that you have practised enough. The industry guideline on ongoing professional competence (2026) determines which exercises these are. At BC-opleidingen every course follows that guideline, and you receive the right code for your logbook.
