When the air line lets you down, the switch to emergency air has to happen automatically. You practise this shallow and in a controlled way in our dive hall.
What will you learn?
- Recognise situations that require disconnecting or switching to emergency air
- Switch in a controlled way to the emergency air/SCUBA system (bailout)
- Secure the air supply and intermediate pressure during the switch
- Disconnect the air line safely
- Communicate clearly with the dive team leader

About the training
This skills training practises the procedure in which the air line (umbilical) of an OLV system is disconnected and the diver switches in a controlled way to the emergency air/SCUBA system (bailout). The training supports the emergency procedure in open water and is intended for regions that dive with OLV.
- Duration
- 1 practice day (guideline: 2 half-day sessions). The final number of dives and the time schedule follow from the work plan and the dive planning.

- Registered fire brigade divers and dive team leaders who work with an OLV configuration.

What does the law require?
Fire brigade divers and dive team leaders have been registered with the NIPV since 1 October 2024. To keep your registration, you show every two years, with your logbook, that you have practised enough. The industry guideline on ongoing professional competence (2026) determines which exercises these are. At BC-opleidingen every course follows that guideline, and you receive the right code for your logbook.
