Diver Medic Technician course in the Netherlands
BC-opleidingen is the only IMCA-approved Diver Medic Technician training provider in the Netherlands and the Benelux — one of only three on the European mainland, according to IMCA’s own register of approved training providers.
Why this qualification matters
IMCA’s code of practice for offshore diving requires diver-medic capability in professional dive teams: someone on the team, besides the supervisor, who is trained to provide advanced first aid and assist a doctor remotely — inside or outside a chamber. That makes the Diver Medic Technician certificate one of the most requested add-on qualifications for working divers, from the North Sea to the Gulf.

Ask a questionFrequently asked
Is this the IMCA Diver Medic Technician course?
Yes. BC-opleidingen is listed in IMCA’s register of approved Diver Medic training providers — the only provider in the Netherlands and the Benelux, and one of three on the European mainland (alongside providers in Italy and Spain).
How is this different from a recreational “diver medic” course?
Recreational courses (for sport divers) are not IMCA-approved and are generally not accepted by offshore employers. If you work — or want to work — as a professional diver, employers ask for the IMCA-recognised certificate.
Do I need to be a professional diver to join?
You need a recognised professional diving qualification and a valid diving medical. Send us your certificate if you qualified outside the Netherlands — we assess equivalence before you book.
Where do students come from?
Mostly the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. Since the closure of historic providers elsewhere in Europe, divers from France, Germany and Scandinavia increasingly train here — one hour from Amsterdam Schiphol, taught in English.
